在技术方面，银行大量的使用了指纹和其他技术措施。在客户向银行提交支票要求付款的时候，银行要求那些没有存款帐户的客户留下其指纹，如果事后发现了支票欺诈，该支票就被交给有关当局进行侦察，支票上的指纹可以作为侦察的线索和证据。指纹的方法大大降低了支票欺诈，因为从事欺诈的人通常都害怕留下任何证据。据统计，在德克萨斯，运用指纹技术已经减少了支票欺诈的50%，内华达和亚拉巴马州在试行期间，支票欺诈下降了40%──80%。而大西银行（Great Western Bank）实行指纹技术之后，1997年支票欺诈减少了40%。
